The Hawker Online is passionate about writing, journalism and presenting useful information concisely and effectively. We would like to help students interested in this important field with a contribution towards their tuition fees. The scholarship is available to both future college students and current college students. We aim to champion students who have a passion for writing and a journalistic flare.

We have set up a scholarship with the opportunity for 1 student to win $300 towards their education. The money will be paid directly to the winner’s universities Financial Aid office who will distribute the prize accordingly.

 

Application Requirements:

1. Create a 500 word news article on an interesting trend. 

2. Have an average GPA of at least 2.

3. Be enrolled for an accredited part-time or full-time course.

 

Submission Instructions:

1. Send your entry to thehawkeronline@gmail.com in PDF format with the subject title “The Hawker Online Journalist Scholarship”.

2.  Include your full name, college name, the year of college you are in (high school seniors are classified as ‘college freshman’), current GPA and contact details.

 

Important Dates: 

Due Date: 1st October annually

Prize Awarded: 20th October annually

 

Terms and Conditions:

The Hawker Online’s Journalist Scholarship Award is available to all US citizens, permanent residents and international students who are high school seniors or who attend a college or university in an accredited part-time or full-time course. The scholarship is open to all applicants regardless of national origin, gender, race, religion or disability. Students located outside of the US who are at American accredited universities can also participate.

Applicants must create unique entries, as all plagiarism will be rejected. Articles with false information will be disqualified. Submitted entries will be assessed by a neutral representative.

There are no fees or costs to enter The Hawker Online’s Scholarship Award. $300 will be awarded to the applicant deemed most successful at the discretion of The Hawker Online.

Subject to the winner’s approval, The Hawker Online may publish the name of the winner on its website. The scholarship money will be sent directly to the winner’s current or future place of attendance. The university will then disburse the $300 accordingly as financial aid.
